Identification of causative allergens may be done through either intradermal skin testing or serum testing.

Intradermal Skin Testing

The intradermal skin test requires small injections of Greer allergen extracts under the skin.  Reactions are then compared to positive and negative controls.   Greer specialists provide assistance in allergen selection based upon geographic prevalence and allergen cross-reactivity and allergenicity, ensuring the specificity needed for successful immunotherapy.    Additional skin testing supplies available:  syringes, histamine positive control, sterile saline.

Please see our
CATALOG to order supplies or contact us for more information on setting up a testing and treatment center in your clinic.

Serum Testing

Veterinarians need only provide 3-5 mL of patient serum for identification of allergen specific IgE in patient serum.    Greer’s newly optimized Aller-G-Complete™ allergen specific IgE ELISA allows more accurate detection of allergen specific IgE and better specificity in determining causative allergens.
